I was 18 or 19 years old when I visited Austin for the very first time. I took a tour of the Capitol building, I visited the DMV (long story), and as a random choice I ate at the Magnolia Cafe. This icon of Austin cuisine is what started my long love affair with this city, and have always been happy to return each time since.

Before I moved to Austin, I had some very strong reservations about eating from “Food Trucks” or mobile kitchens that travel from place to place. In Houston and San Antonio, these are nicknamed “Roach Coaches” for a reason. In Austin, eating from a food truck is a local institution.
I got acquainted with Wahoo’s Fish Tacos late last year after the Gypsy Picnic. We arrived too late for the food trucks, so my cousins and I went over a few blocks to South Congress instead.
