As the inaugural post of The Bat City Chronicles, let me welcome you to Austin, Texas. If you are reading this, you are either living in, visiting, or appreciate one of the greatest cities on the planet. The east coast has New York City. The west coast has Los Angeles. The south? We have Austin.
Austin is a city like no other. It’s many nicknames include Bat City (named after the massive amount of bats that congregate under the South Congress bridge), The Live Music Capitol of the World, ATX, and to me: Home.
I’ve lived in Texas my entire life. I was born and raised in Houston, moved to San Antonio at 28, and recently to Austin at age 33. I fell in love with this city on my first visit at the age of 19, and have been dying to get back ever since. Of all the places I’ve lived, I’ve never felt more at home than I do in this city.
I decided to start this website to chronicle my adventures as a new resident in Austin. Expect reviews of restaurants, music venues, bands, stand-up and improv comedy shows, and anything else that Austin has to offer. Follow my adventures on Foursquare, send me suggestions of places to try on Twitter, like us on Facebook, and subscribe to this site in your RSS reader!
